Application and AI interview

micro1: the Experts page lists four steps: apply for opportunities, take the AI interview, get onboarded, start earning. micro1 says it uses "structured, skill-based assessments", with human recruiters reviewing profiles too. Mercor: an AI interviewer asks role-specific questions. Most interviews take about 20 minutes, and one result is reused across applications that need the same interview. The allowance is up to three retakes across applications using that interview, and hiring managers can see the count. A retake resets application progress; the waiting room asks applicants to reserve retakes for technical issues. The interview documentation explains these rules. After you pass

micro1: you become certified for the skills you showed. Certification "does not guarantee immediate placement". Unmatched profiles stay active, and certifying more skills widens what you can be matched to (micro1.ai/experts).

Mercor: if you're a fit, Mercor's team follows up and connects you to projects (mercor.com/experts). Some roles add assessments or paid work trials (talent.docs.mercor.com/support/project).

Pay and payments

Eligibility

micro1 says it hires globally except for residents of 21 listed countries and regions, including China, Russia, Iran, Ukraine and Ethiopia (micro1.ai/experts). Mercor's Supported Countries & Regions policy says it does not engage contractors outside its listed regions. Payment-provider availability alone does not establish work eligibility.
